Bryan Funk [00:00:00]

Welcome. We are joined by Stefan Weitz, co-founder of HumanX, to explore how AI is redefining the event experience. Today’s conversation will unpack how AI can be leveraged to create better attendee experiences pre-event, during, and post-event.

Stefan, welcome, and thank you for being here.

Stefan Weitz [00:02:00]

Thanks for having me, Bryan. It’s great to be here. I’m live at HLTH in Las Vegas, so I’m both energized and dehydrated. Excited to share insights.

Bryan Funk [00:02:30]

For context, could you share your background and how you’ve transitioned into the events space?

Stefan Weitz [00:02:45]

Absolutely. I’m a lifelong tech nerd and have worked with AI since I was a kid. I’ve attended hundreds of conferences and spoken at many but never organized one—until now. What led me to events is the realization that while AI is transformative, many organizations struggle to implement it effectively. My co-founder, John Weiner, brings deep event expertise, having launched HLTH, ShopTalk, and Money20/20. Together, we’re building HumanX, an event designed to convene AI leaders and elevate the conversation around AI in enterprise.

Bryan Funk [00:05:00]

Your first HumanX event is set for March in Las Vegas. What’s your ethos around events, and how are you approaching programming?

Stefan Weitz [00:05:30]

Events should create meaningful connections and deliver tangible ROI. Most people attend events to connect with others and solve problems, not just consume content. That insight drives our focus on creating spaces for authentic interaction—both prescribed and organic.

To ensure ROI, we’ve designed HumanX as a marketplace for knowledge, innovation, and networking. By combining exceptional content, immersive experiences, and opportunities for attendees to transact—whether through partnerships, deals, or collaboration—we aim to deliver real value.

Bryan Funk [00:08:00]

When designing HumanX, how did you balance the need for personalization with the scale of a major event?

Stefan Weitz [00:08:30]

It’s about reducing cognitive burden for attendees. Most events place the onus on attendees to navigate complex schedules and find value. At HumanX, we’ve created “conference threading,” where each industry track’s content is concentrated on a single day. For example, finance, healthcare, and retail tracks will each have dedicated days.

This structure allows attendees to focus deeply on relevant content without feeling overwhelmed. At the same time, cross-pollination is encouraged on other days, enabling attendees to explore broader topics and make unexpected connections.

Bryan Funk [00:12:00]

What role does AI play in enhancing the attendee experience at HumanX?

Stefan Weitz [00:12:30]

AI is central to how we’re shaping the attendee experience. For instance, all sessions will be multi-camera recorded and transcribed in real time. Attendees can access live transcriptions and AI-generated summaries through the event app, enabling them to catch up on key points they may have missed.

We’re also using facial recognition technology to analyze audience engagement during sessions. This data highlights which moments resonated most, informing post-event content distribution. Additionally, a custom large language model (LLM) will allow attendees to query the entire conference database, making it easy to find specific topics or insights.

Bryan Funk [00:16:00]

That’s impressive. How do you ensure attendees find the right connections?

Stefan Weitz [00:16:30]

We’re leveraging AI-powered matchmaking tools to facilitate meaningful connections. Attendees can participate in pre-event calls with an AI assistant to articulate their goals, which helps identify aligned connections. This ensures that meetings are purposeful and impactful.

Bryan Funk [00:18:00]

What advice do you have for smaller organizations looking to adopt AI in their events?

Stefan Weitz [00:18:30]

Start small and focus on high-impact use cases. For example, AI tools like automated transcription, matchmaking, or content summarization can significantly improve attendee experience without requiring massive resources. The key is to identify what your audience values most and address that need first.

Bryan Funk [00:20:00]

How does HumanX address common pain points in event navigation and logistics?

Stefan Weitz [00:20:30]

We’re using a cutting-edge wayfinding technology that leverages the Earth’s magnetic field for precise indoor positioning. Attendees can navigate the venue seamlessly through our app, whether they’re locating a booth, a meeting room, or a specific session. It’s all about eliminating friction and enhancing convenience.

Bryan Funk [00:25:00]

As we wrap up, what’s your vision for the future of events?

Stefan Weitz [00:25:30]

The future of events lies in personalization and seamless integration of technology. By reducing complexity and delivering curated experiences, we can ensure every attendee finds value. Events should inspire, connect, and equip people to take action.

Bryan Funk [00:27:00]

Thank you, Stefan, for sharing your insights. This has been an incredible conversation.
